It has been postponed but they will still refer to it as the 2020 Olympics whenthey hold them next year.

Postponing feels like the only logic option. But at least it will still take place next year and not have to wait until 2024

Given it was originally scheduled at the end of July, there's just no way that the virus goes away by then.  It'll be a super bad look for the Olympics to power through when all our governments are persistently cautioning us of the dangers of the virus and what not.  It really was the only option.
