I was really impressed by his performance as Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit trilogy and was expecting to see him become big later. The man is a great actor, is super charismatic and has a commanding voice. I would argue that his performance, helped by the writing in the movies ofc, adds the most to Tolkein's character out of all the actors.
But after the movies ended, he was seen in either bit part roles or C tier movies mostly, though has found mild success on TV.
Do you think Armitage should have taken off? Or is it the franchise effect where public always associates you with one character as seen with most actors in Harry Potter, Star Wars, Game of Thrones etc?
