His basic M.O. was to catfish/trick a girl into sending him nudes of herself (pretty typical/mild content at first); topless pics, maybe a full nude), but once he had a few of them he would start blackmailing them. He would also prove his seriousness by sending the pictures to a few of their friends right away (or at the first sign of non-compliance or hesitation).
After the blackmailing started, his demands would get more and more rough. Instead of just pictures, he would demand videos and then eventually Skype Chats. And the Skype chats were insanely predatory, often requiring penetration with objects, and often while the girls were crying and saying no. The scariest part is I have heard some of the girls formed a sort of Stockholm Syndrome attachment to him over time.
It really is vile what he did. I know most of the time on forums like these we walk in a grey area, but really there are just some lines that as human beings we should reject out of hand. The person who described it to me called it "basically rape", but really, depending on what state the girls lived in and thus what jurisdiction it is tried under (not to mention under federal law which he could also be tried under without double jeopardy applying due to the dual sovereignty doctrine) there is no "basically". Using blackmail to force someone to penetrate themselves is, in most jurisdictions, considered rape. And because of the girls' ages, which are aggravating factors under the law, he is never going to see the outside of a jail cell again.
I, personally, would love to follow along with this asshole's trial and see what he eventually gets hit with since the media isn't really covering it. So anything you got that doesn't violate Forum rules, I'd thank you for!

I personally think that if it is true that one of the girls that he was blackmailing get Stockholm syndrom, it was Athena. But that is only my personal suggestion, because I do not even heard that one of the girls get Stockholm syndrom before I have read your post.
As far as I know, he made long series including lots of Skype calls only with Athena, Hannah and Gabrielle. What was with other girls? Do you think that they simply refused to continue playing his "game" or did he leave them alone because he was not amused by them anymore?
By the way, one more question - take it as food for thought. Do you think that from moral perspective there is big difference between for example blackmailing 13 yo girl (Hannah) to do nasty and quite painful things (inserting handle of the brush in her asshole, gaping her asshole until when she even bleed, sucking banana until she nearly vomited, threating her until she became crying) and for example Realgirls stuff where girls usually around 18 yo (sometimes younger but sometimes also older) are also blackmailed to insert various things in all their holes, vomit, drink piss and smearing, licking or even eating their own shit?
Of course there is difference in the law - there are much more strict punishments for crimes committed against the children. But from moral point of view... to be honest I do not really see big difference between Ruben and Realgirls' producer. I see both as resembling.

But I personally think, that girls blackmailed by Ruben which are not obviously underage should be allowed here given the fact that Realgirls are allowed here although they were sometimes forced do even more degrading things in their videos than Ruben's.

I also do not know nothing about suicide of any of his victim, although there is no doubt that they were suffering. By the way it is interesting if Ruben really thinks that he is safe in Mexico, because Mexico usually obey orders from U.S. and at least extraditions their citizens almost in all cases when U.S. asked them to do. I understand it when if he was for example Russian, because Russia hardly ever extradite their citizens abroad - but that is different story.
Do you have a suggestion how they caught him. I suppose that it was not really a big deal to track him, because of his pretty low security measures. But I wonder if some of his victims report everything to police or if his activities were revealed by some social site algorithm which consider his activities as suspicious and report him firstly to some moderators, which naturally immediately contacted police.
