If you want the nostalgia trip to be absolutely perfect, no, don't play it, it gets frustrating. If you want a version of Secret of Mana with honestly decent but not great graphics and cleaned up controls, play it. I haven't gotten far but I love the feel of it, and you can switch between the original soundtrack and the new/remixed one at will so you can still get a heavy nostalgia hit. Honestly I think it's one of the better remakes out there of a solid retro game, but you have to approach it as a remake, not a remaster, meaning it's not gonna really feel exactly the same. If you've never played the original, or if you've only watched the original played rather than playing it yourself, I'd say it's definitely worth it, but if you really, really want to just play the original, SNES classic is your friend. Also the secret software for computers and phones that can miraculously play retro games that is not technically legal but we all use it anyway. Those work pretty well too.
