Should there be a Voting Day holiday?
#1
I'm in the US, I'm sure it affects my perspective.

It's preached from a young age, the value of voting. For me it wasn't until later that i realized just how important it is. Do you think with all of our busy schedules, that there should be a day off of work to help people get to the booths?

I think a better question is, should we have mandatory voting, like the Ausfailians have?

Yes, election days should be national holidays. It's criminal that voting is such an important right but it can be taken from you for simply having a boss that won't give you 30 mins to go exercise one of your fundamental rights.

I think this is important to some degree. I think it is even more important that the state would institue an impartial party to take matters into own hands in terms of informing the public of the plans of every party and it's science backed projected repercussions.

Yes there should be.

Absolutely! Why not. I think states like NY already have election day as a state holiday. Vote, drink a beer and enjoy the day.
