You know, I'm fine with the Rams trading first rounders for proven talent. It's pretty smart, if you ask me.
What isn't smart is that they probably could have traded that heap for Watson. Stafford is great, but remember he had some serious weapons before and still couldn't make it work. Rams best case is 10-6 next year. I think 9-7 is likely too.
I was completely shocked when the news broke but overall I think it’s a good move for the Rams. They’re going to be in cap hell soon and their Super Bowl window won’t be open in the next 5 seasons. Might as try and win a Super Bowl with the team you have right now and worry about the rebuild when it comes. Goff has his limitations and I think McVay took notice when they lost to Nick Mullens and the 9ers in November.
As for Goff, this might be a good situation. He’s going to try and prove himself to the NFL that he doesn’t NEED McVay to succeed. Some QB desperate team next offseason is going to try and get Goff.
However, I don’t think Goff is going to have a good season in Detroit thus diminishing his value. But who knows
Not sure why this trade happened when Watson wants out of Houston.
Also equally perplexed as to how the Eagles expect a stafford-like deal for a guy like Wentz. If anything the eagles will need to send some picks with Wentz to entice a team to take on his salary.
