Steam Deck cost efficiency
#1
Does anyone know how Valve is able to sell the Steam Deck at such a low price with such high specs? I mean it's basically a handheld PC for $400. It's insane. They must be taking a hit per unit right?

It's not really a high spec device. It's decent nonetheless but I think we have to wait till people get their hands on it first to see and tell how good and reliable it really is.
So far it seems promising as a low tier PC and the price mark on it is indeed tempting

Comparing it to some of the other handheld PCs that are available/soon to be released (like the GPD Win3 and Aya Neo), the Steam Deck comes in at a very low price. I'm assuming they're taking a per-unit loss in order to get them out there and get more people buying from the Steam store

Do you guys think that valve will abonden this platform as well, or will it compete with the gaming giants such as the switch?
