I gotta say I feel they are less relevant each year. which is maybe true to all awards. Has anyone watched the globes this year? anyone planning on watching the oscars? I'm skipping, I think.

Personally I've never gotten the appeal of award shows, though I do see the merit of having awards themselves to provide recognition.

I think these award shows are more about the individuals involved than the viewer today. To me they’ve always been something I could just look up the results to the next day
