What's your favorite most recommended entry within Total War series? Are they mostly all the same and which one is the best more modern warfare game? I'm presuming Rome is the more popular one since it also got a Remaster and I've heard people have had problems with Rome II but I'm not sure if they were warranted?

I would say Medieval 2. It's the most iconic game in the series (my opinion). And the modding community is HUGE. I love the LOTR mod, its definitely worth a try my man. Just take your time and learn the mechanics.

Are the mechanics all the same throughout the series? I was interested in Empire since it's the most modern, but I was worried that certain types of combat doesn't translate well compared to its predecessors.

Rome Total War and Total War Shogun 2 is the best for me.

Definitly Shogun 2 total war. Its easy tl start with that one and it reaaally is fun
