For me it was The Exorcist when I was about 8 simply because it seemed so unnatural.

Then later on for some reason Hostel. 
Just because it seems like it could happen when youre out and about in some unknown country.

Oh.. And movies with sharks.. Ugh

As a kid I used to be scared of movies like Jurassic Park and Deep Blue Sea. But as I grew older and gained a better appreciation for horror, I think Sinister is a great but scary film.

The sequel was okay, but the first one has one of my favorite narratives. It also has some of my favorite jump scares and I think it’s one of the only films to do them effectively and correctly.

Just recently watched Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, a slow start which many thought to be "boring" but once things start getting eerie it really delivers well. It's like the korean version of Grave Encounters but not reliant on cgi and the movie isn't reliant on jumpscares all over the place. I'm not one to be easily spooked by horror nowadays but this one made me jump once or twice
