What horror movies do you recommend?
#1
I've recently started watching horror movies instead of comedy/drama and im really liking it so far.

So the search for some quality films begins, I'd really appreciate it if you shared some of your most enjoyed horror titles.

A24 films are generally considered to be really good (The Witch, Hereditary, Midsommer).

The Conjuring and Insidious are also some of my favourite.

If you just started getting into horror, you can watch some more older classics like The Grudge, The Ring, etc. Careful though, because the original Japanese versions tend to be better than the Hollywood versions, but that can be a matter of taste preference. (I personally like the 2000s Hollywood versions of the The Ring and The Grudge).

Dead meat on youtube gives kill counts of horror movies as well as information about the production and history of movies. I think watching the old well known horror movies is cool as you can see where horror tropes might have come from.

#8
The Shining (1980) and Suspiria (1977).

There's a lot of subgenre in horror, and some old movies don't hold up as well with the pacing we're used to.

With that said, I think a classic is Night Night of the Living Dead by George Romero. It gives a vibe of paranoia with subtext.

Or if you want something newer with the same vibe, It Comes at Night which is also an A24 film.
