I personally think that the new movies are only a appeal to the past , a way to make money about nostalgia i think only the first is good and the other two have very contradiction
This might be a controversial opinion but I actually really liked Rise of Skywalker, it was my favorite out of the new trilogy, The Last Jedi was my least favorite but it had some badass scenes sprinkled in there, Force Awakens was kind of more of the same as the other trilogies, maybe I'm too forgiving on films.
Great acting, but horrible writing and planning. I wouldn't mind them if they didn't destroy characters and the accomplishments of the prior movies. I feel bad for the actors who took the criticism as they couldn't do anything to change the story.
A good example of the fact that if you're gonna make a trilogy, plan out all 3 movies and how they connect ahead of time, not one movie at a time. It seemed like they just made one movie, waited to see what people liked/hated about it, and then tried to use that feedback to write the next movie. Sprinkle in so fan service/throwbacks to the OT, and you have a recipe for a perfect mess that makes very few people happy.
I enjoyed the films, but I feel that they fell flat because they rely too heavily on nostalgia (such as bringing back recognizable characters, locations, and scenarios).
I did not enjoy The Rise of Skywalker, I just thought the writing was really bad. Also I feel really bad for John Boyega. Him just screaming Rey the entirety of the sequel trilogy is just so sad and cringeworthy. It’s not his fault, it’s the writers/script. They really could’ve made him a great character but they did my boy John wrong.
