What wast the first language you learned? Do you think it was a good choice?

I started off with C++, and I think it was very useful in teaching me how things work at a pretty low level. Everyone is learning Python these days. It's a great language, but I feel like they're missing out on something.

As you mention, I started with Python, this was not my choice but my school's. But I think that any object-oriented language is a good place to start, to learn the basics.
