When is it no longer amateur?
#1
What is the threshold to no longer being considered an amateur adult 'artist'? There are so many ways to earn money from "Onlyfans" to "Manyvids" to all the different cam sites, when are you no longer considered an amateur? I thought the fact you make money from it and are paid to do it makes you a "professional".

Camera quality used to be a large factor but good things become cheap and cheap things become good

If you look at NaughtyAmerica, the lighting is almost signature to them. The thumbnails etc
Pornhub Creators are much more enjoyable to watch because actually it's something different.

i say it stops being amateur once the money from sales goes to someone else before the performer i.e. agents, studios, directors before trickling down to performer.

For me personally it's about intention. I know loads of girls who do OnlyFans but keep it a secret, to me they are amateurs because they don't post their OF links everywhere... it's quiet and discreet.

Then you get loads of girls who post their links everywhere, constantly posting previews or thirst traps... they are professionals to me.

I think if you are camming then you have to be considered professional just because you can't really cam discreetly, I think amateurs can sell their nudes and still be amateurs but the moment you publicise the fact you're doing it, you've crossed the line into professional work.

I was going to say that it is when money is involved, but you sir, has changed my opinion. Very concise and well though point.

I would say production value has a lot to do with it. If there is a film crew involved or it isn't being selfshot, I think it stops being amateur.

#9
definitely when the intention and audience changes from the performer's perspective

#10
when they start paying other people to help with production

#11
For me, how much content they have out there definitely plays a big factor in it.

I agree with you on this! It definitely seems like intention should be the benchmark instead of just cash flow. When it moves from a discrete and anonymous venture to a public one with money then it is no longer amateur.

if they brand then they aren;t amateur I guess

#14
When there's a production crew probably

"When there's a production crew probably"
+1
Yep, if these's a contract and a crew it's not amateur anymore

#16
I think amateurs are no longer amateur when the point of their posts is financial first

#17
idk man hard to say

#18
When it becomes recorded by a studio rather than by just the people involved.

#19
for me i would say its Amateur as long as you dont shot scenes for Studios, once you done that your in the Main Buisness.

By definition you'd become a professional when you start getting paid decent money for something. But with only fans being a think people are getting paid for it, so I'd say it would also need a considerable budget with things like, camera quality, lighting and setting etc.
