Dune is probably my favorite Sci-Fi book series of all time, and I'm really looking forward to the movie coming out next month. I really hope they can do justice to the book, because I have such fond memories of it. I've purposely kept myself from watching trailers or reading too much news about it, because I want to be surprised when I go to see it. Who else is eagerly awaiting this movie?!

I keep hearing bad reviews of it from other Dune fans. The biggest critcism is that a lot of the story that was shown in the original movie was deleted, and things are sort of a kindler, gentler, Dune. That, and the guy playing Paul is really shit at it. While the director is good at noir, the weaknesses were both writing and acting. I'm gonna rewatch the original before seeing the new version.

What I wish Denis Villanueve had done was chosen to make the sequel to the original Dune movie, rather than remaking the original. That would have been a better film.
