Any recommendations for good space operas? Firefly and Cowboy Bebop were rather short-lived, as well as the newer Dark Matter (2015-2017). Is there no mass market appeal for space operas? Conversely, there's a large audience that enjoys The Expanse.

The genre is useful for long story and character arcs but also expensive to film, unless rendered in animated form, like countless anime series. Battlestar Galactica?

True, but there are plenty of episodic series as well, which in theory would be more accessible yet they're still not as popular. I'll have to give BSG another rewatch
