My opinion is that with Apple products you pay a premium, but you also get superior user experiences compared to Android or other platforms. Yes, there are restrictions, but the ecosystem is more user friendly for people technologically challenged or just don't have the time to tinker around with their devices. Androids give you the freedom of customizing your device with different apps and even bypassing some with jail breaking. I have used both devices and Apple seems to be more of a smoother experience although I currently have a samsung S10e (why does waze crash sometimes!?).
