should I just switch over to AMD and give up on Nvidia?

Nvidia is still the best, guess it depends on your needs, if it just thrills than when you get the amd you gonna want the nvidia when it comes out too.

Just look at benchmarks for the different cards. You might be surprised to see some of the AMD cards ranking pretty high compares to nVidia.
