Microsoft is being extremely consumer friendly, but will any of these practices actually sell Xboxes?
Part of me thinks they won't. Stuff like backwards compatibility and cross gen exclusives for the first year benefit people who already have Xbox more than anyone interested in buying one.

Now that the Playstation 5 has been revealed, I don't think XBOX is going to be outselling PS anytime soon.
