Thoughts on last of us series
#1
As far as I know the series Is based on the first game and as long they follow that  blueprint then it should be fine as long they don't change anything too much.

Idc too much about it but it has the directors of Chernobyl so it should be good.

Dumb AF.

It bothers me how desperate and uncreative studios are that they pull content from anywhere. But even more annoying that it's going to get the prestige-streaming treatment that was seen in CHERNOBYL. A great miniseries, but streaming prestige-drama is literally a template now, and it's going to be applied to The Last of Us, a cheesy game about a... post-apocalyptic world... yet again...

It's been done so many times in Mad Max, The Last Stand, I Am Legend, Book of Eli, Walking Dead.

The setting is so specific and honestly very uninteresting.

Compelling stories about post-apocalyptic worlds are worthwhile. It's the copycat shit that comes after is what is utter shit. Same with the burnt out sequels. So there are some good hits and fuck tons of misses.

The Last of Us (the first one) was a great storyline, whereas two was utter garbage, especially with that tranny added in. The Mad Max story was actually really good until Thunderdome came along, which was a Hollywood bastardization of a good storyline. (Never underestimate H'wood execs' abilities to fuck something up for large amounts of money bouncing in their heads. Please note their Jewish surnames and extrapolate.) The Book of Eli was a good standalone story that shouldn't have a sequel. The Walking Dead was great until season 2 came along. Etc etc.

tl;dr It means that Hollywood not only is out of ideas, but can't actually come up with a good reboot of an old idea, all because they're pozzed from their sole desire for money. Hollywood execs have their puppet masters, so they do their masters' bidding. That means keeping out the actual good writers, actors, and directors.

The Last of Us is a classic example of a game that is interesting because it's a game. The story is rather generic overall in movie-form, but as a game it's highly compelling.

Probably similar to Zelda - a very cinematic universe, but it would become VERY annoying in film form.

Part of it is that the filmmakers put a specific style and perspective on the films. So imagine Zelda but with a really dark and Game-Of-Thrones-esque reality. That wouldn't fit. Movie-logic just isn't the same as game-logic. You can get away with huge tonal shifts in a videogame.

Videogames also function very similarly to novels where much of the story is left to your imagination. Since most of a game is non-linear gameplay with a lot of repetition and non-story elements, the story is only really a framing device.

A movie or series is ALL story, constantly.

Im curious to how they are going to pace it. is season 1 going to be up until pittsburgh? or will they do the whole first game in the first season and have hour long episodes? im excited for the prospect of a season 3 or 4 showing us the years in jackson and showing how close they were until ellie went back to the hospital
