Compelling stories about post-apocalyptic worlds are worthwhile. It's the copycat shit that comes after is what is utter shit. Same with the burnt out sequels. So there are some good hits and fuck tons of misses.
The Last of Us (the first one) was a great storyline, whereas two was utter garbage, especially with that tranny added in. The Mad Max story was actually really good until Thunderdome came along, which was a Hollywood bastardization of a good storyline. (Never underestimate H'wood execs' abilities to fuck something up for large amounts of money bouncing in their heads. Please note their Jewish surnames and extrapolate.) The Book of Eli was a good standalone story that shouldn't have a sequel. The Walking Dead was great until season 2 came along. Etc etc.
tl;dr It means that Hollywood not only is out of ideas, but can't actually come up with a good reboot of an old idea, all because they're pozzed from their sole desire for money. Hollywood execs have their puppet masters, so they do their masters' bidding. That means keeping out the actual good writers, actors, and directors.
