I think he did a decent job of setting up his kids and some of his followers to take up his mantle. He might be out of the picture due to age but his brand will live on.

The Republican Party is in a bit of a bind. On one hand, Trump is a one-term president who, during his four years, saw the GOP lose control of the House, the Senate, and the White House. There is a not-insignificant faction of Republicans who would like to see him out of politics as they view him as not acting in the party's best interests. On the other hand, Trump is still unquestionably the party's leader. He commands absolute loyalty from a huge amount of the base. Any perceived disloyalty to Trump by other GOP members is met with a swift and harsh reaction (see Liz Cheney). If the Republicans were to try to pivot away from Trump, he could very easily split off to a new party and take a good chunk of Republicans with him. Such a move, though, would virtually guarantee that no Republican wins a national election ever again.

So, the party is certainly in an unenviable position.

Nah, none of his kids will be able to pick up the mantle.  Eric is a goof.  Ivanka is attempting to distance herself now.  And Jr is a total douche.

>Where do republicans go after Trump?
Usually to their house, hotel, a friend's house, or a bar. You're not allowed to hang out at the Trump Rally after it's all said and done. The Secret Service says that's a no-no.

I value Trump mostly for his self-marketing skills and specially for his comedic entertainment.
He is a great loss to comedy writers now that boring old Plain-Joe Biden has replaced him. I miss the bumbling old Donald.

I hope the Republicans can gravitate more to Centrists or Moderates like good ol' John McCain.
They're a good counterbalance to Democrats, but I hope we have less of the ultra right.

They have to match everything he brought to the table. He connected to people who felt unheard.

So they need to find someone who's energetic, and doesn't seem censored.

This could be a hard search, since he has dedicated supporters who want him back in.

No, fuck that shit. Republicans are supposed to be conservative, not centrist. Democrats have a centrist wing, and that's where they belong. And fuck McCain.

Trump is dumb and anyone who follows him is really dumb.

There’s not much difference between any of the last 5 presidency. They all continue to keep us in wars, they all have continued to increase the wealth gap between wealthy and working class. Trump was the heel and gave news media unlimited content, he was great for ratings. But ultimately that’s all he was because he never followed through on what he said he would. He never got us out of the wars, he never created a comprehensive health plan to get Americans better health care like he ran on. He became a puppet of the elites even though his natural instinct was to do the right thing, but he is too weak. Biden is the same. All smoke and mirrors, somehow you’re allowed to campaign on things you won’t actually do. We have two wings of the same hyper right-wing party. We are the most interventionist country in the entire world, we occupy other countries, and spit in the faces of our own people when they ask for a measly wage increase or affordable health care. But I think people will just continue to fall for it unfortunately. The news media has done a great job as portraying your neighbor as the bad guy, not the lawmakers. “Republican bad Democrat good” or “Democrat bad Republican good”. Partisan cheerleading while nothing gets done and we stay distracted. I don’t care where the republican party goes because right now there isn’t a single congressperson or senator that isn’t completely bought and paid for by corporations and powerful elites. If someone comes about and can break free of this and fight for the little guy, i don’t care if they’re republican or democrat they’ll have my vote.

That being said, there are a bunch of fucking moron “rising stars” in the party. I.e. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Madison Cawthorn, both of whom have recently claimed that “socialism/communism is the reason the 1% is growing more powerful and making more money”. I don’t know if they’re just partisan actors pretending to not understand that that’s exactly how capitalism is supposed to function, or if they’re just really too stupid to understand what socialism is, but either way its not a good direction for the party because no one actually buys this shit. Police stations, libraries, hospitals, national parks, city water systems, state roads and highways, thepost office, are all socialist institutions and you don’t see these elected clowns screaming to tear them down. Its a bad direction for the party and I think there will continue to be a big divide between this wing of the GOP and the more “professional” wing of the party lien the Mitt Romney’s of the world

Republicans have kind of pushed themselves to cater to those further and further right. Moderate conservatives are now seen as traitors to the GOP if they don't back some of the crazier takes, such as the election being stolen and vaccines are not just a public health measure.
